Job overviewThe Trust's portering teams support the provision of a timely and reliable service to all wards, departments and specialist areas throughout the Trust's two main acute Hospital sites, the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven and the Cumberland Infirmary at Carlisle.
Porters are involved with a wide range of ancillary duties and responsibilities which centre on the movement of patients, waste, medical gases, pathological items and all other specialist goods or equipment required to aid clinical services in the delivery of safe and responsive patient care.
Bank porters deliver a range of portering functions in support of the existing Shift Team in order to distribute the increased workloads demanded by the vast majority of departments during standard working hours. Working patterns will be reviewed periodically to ensure service delivery is both adequate and appropriately reflected through existing rota.
Main duties of the jobThe Trust's Portering team form part of the wider Facilities Management Department which is responsible for all elements of core function of an ancillary and specialist nature, helping to support the flow of all inpatient and outpatient services within the Cumbria Integrated Care Hospitals Trust.

Person specification Qualifications- good level of GCSE English and maths or equivalent
