Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team within specialist medicine supporting the clinical secretarial team. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of our services and play a vital role in supporting patient care.

In this role, you'll be proof-reading and editing clinical letters and reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity in patient communications. You'll also carry out basic administrative tasks as needed, helping to keep things organised and efficient. you'll be part of a team that works behind the scenes to support clinicians and improve patient experience.

Main duties of the job

The main duty of the job is proof reading and editing clinical correspondence which has been transcribed by speech recognition software. Additional duties may include post runs, scanning, answering phone calls and general admin duties.

It is essential that you are able to demonstrate good interpersonal, verbal and written skills and have a "can do" attitude. You will have a good level of IT literacy as you will be using multiple software packages.

Qualifications
  • GCSE level A-C including English and Maths
  • NVQ2 administration / data processing or equivalent level of knowledge and skills
  • Typing / text processing/ data entry skills to RSAII or equivalent
  • ECDL or alternative recognised IT Qualification
Experience
  • Evidence of previous admin or secretarial experience in a busy environment
  • Record keeping and filing systems
  • Prioritisation of workload
  • Use of patient record systems
Skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Able to work on own initiative within guidelines
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
